Hi, I generally try to give a product a fair chance before forming a judgment. I have to talk on phone a lot (suffice to say that I have a 5000 minutes plan for my mobile) and hence wanted to invest in a "state-of-the-art" head set for my cell phone. The main criterion I had was that my client should not know if I was making the call from my car, while crossing the road or my office. I searched on the internet and found this head set.

This headset is not as comfortable or as non conspicuous like the others smaller Bluetooth enabled (like by Jabra). I was willing to tolerate some discomfort as long as I could conduct a professional voice call with my clients without background noise.

Well, I started talking on this headset, assuming that all the marketing hype was true. But soon I realized that this headset cannot be trusted. I was making a call to my wife one day and she asked me if the weather was really bad. I was walking in slight windy conditions while talking to her and she heard a storm in the back ground. Same happened while the AC vents in the car were blowing air. OK, maybe this head set might be build just for places where there is no wind.

But lo and behold, while calling from my office too, it seams that this headset would sometimes fade in-fadeout.

I was really disappointed with this set.

This head set comes in 2 parts: the long mic piece detaches from the holder which wraps around your ear. One fine day I lost the ear piece which was a blessing in disguise since I was not going to throw a $150 head set in the trash voluntarily. Right now, I am using the cheapo headset that comes with the phone and I am much happier.

This earpiece is by far the best one I have ever used. I heard about it from my friend who had gone through six bluetooth earpieces, and he wanted to be able to talk on the freeway with the top down. This is the ipod of 2009! The quality is amazing - it always sounds like I'm on a land line. I can speak to my grandmother from my cellphone now with the Boom, and she couldn't even hear me before. It's the same one used by blackhawk helicopter pilots. I don't mind it's not cordless - means better call quality and no batteries to recharge. Highly recommend.

The Boom headset is expensive but worth every penny. I have tried many headsets and this one's way ahead of it's competitors for killing background noise. No other headset microphone is even close. This thing is easily heard by people I am talking to on my cell from very noisy locations - family, friends and associates can't believe it, and appreciate it. Talk in a low whisper in a loud environment. Like having your own mobile "quiet room" in busy crowds, noisy restaurants, on the open road, in loud conferences.

Just got the new v4 Boom, and its lighter and more comfy than the prior model which I constantly used for over two years. But I miss the convenient 2-piece magnetic connector boom.

This is a pretty amazing headset. Unfortunately it is wired. I bought an adapter to use it with my RAZR and I end up draped in wires by the time I'm making a call, which is fine unless I move. At least the other party can understand what I'm saying. It is good enough to use on conference calls from a car or noisy environment, an achievement not one of 8 different behind-the-ear bluetooth headsets I've used can claim. A little heavy, may not be all-day comfortable for some users, bulky, and inconvenient; but the sound quality is without equal.

"Nice set of headphones, but microphone is lacking" 2008-03-08

I received my first package and upon receipt found one of the headphone speakers didn't work so sound was only coming out of one ear. After getting the first set replaced, I was happy with the overall fit and finish of the headset.

MICROPHONE

I believe there are some issues with the microphone, at least in the units I received. I used Adobe Soundbooth to record using the microphone and I literally had to put the microphone right up to my mouth for the sound to be recorded. I had the previous microphone still as I hadn't returned it yet, and had the same issue. I also used the built-in Sound Recorder application in Windows Vista Ultimate, and had the same results. I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Music card in my Dell quad core XPS system. I have a cheap headset that I've been using in the past, and it sounds very clear. I think I got a couple of defective units. I also don't like how the microphone is not a boom mic. I'm used to that type of mic, and I don't like the idea of a microphone that might pick up more than just my voice while gaming, or recording as well as the clip on, a bit tacky for us gamers! ;-)

HEADPHONES

The headphones are comfortable. I was a little disappointed in the fact that the ear piece material is made of soft cloth. Their marketing information says "Sweat-less, velour ear cushions". My ears got hot pretty quickly, and after an hour long gaming session I felt like they were almost sweating when I was finished.

I also like to hear the range of sound in music and in gaming. Unfortunately, the bass was not really deep, and I didn't feel emmersed in the game as I wanted to feel. The marketing ad says "You'll hear the raindrops as clearly as the blood splatters". Kind of a gross description, but nonetheless, I wasn't that impressed with the sound quality. Plus, as I was listening to the blood splattering, I could also hear the street sweeper going by outside my house as well as the dog barking. I really like what they were trying to do, I just think some of the components were made rather cheaply. For instance, I understand these headphones are not noise canceling, and they certainly are not meant to be headphones that you'd wear to mix and record music, but when you have these headphones on and you're listening to them, people can hear what you hear across the room. I have a young son and when I'm playing some M rated video games and he walks into the room, I don't want him to hear what I'm hearing.

SUMMARY

Hopefully if there is a known quality issue with the manufacturing of these units, it will be resolved soon. Unfortunately, the cheap $20 headphones I have work just as well, and better in almost all areas. I wouldn't recommend anyone spending more than $20 for this level of headphones. For $70 there are just so many other options out there to choose from.

SUPPORT

I don't really like the support mechanism they provide. You have to create an account with them online to log a ticket with their support team. There is no phone number specifically listed for technical support. I'm going to try and contact tech support next week and see about resolvign the microphone issue. Maybe it will turn out to be an incompatibility or something. Either way, if I can edit my review, I will leave what I've written above out there, but update the review if possible to include whether or not they were able to resolve my microphone issues.

Sorry Ideazon, I wish I could've been more impressed.

These headphones are of superior quality.

The Fit:

pros: Very comfortable for me, it rested on the top of my head with the padded part, and they stretch according to your head size. Light weight so you barley feel them on.

cons: Because they auto-adjust size, there isn't a way to get that perfect fit, or tighten them to your own preference.

The Sound:

pros: Crisp and Clear - playing Halo 3 on the PC you can hear the sizzle of a plasma grenade, the click of a reload all on top of the fighting, or Guild Wars you can hear the click click of the insects, and clang of the warriors sword like never before! As for listening to music, WOW.. I plugged them into my laptop to listen to music without disturbing people around me, and as loud as I had it (becareful not to hurt your ears with it too loud) no one heard it.

cons: because of the way the headset is so sound contained, it makes it hard to hear anyone else in the same room as you!! (although for some that might be a good thing ;)

Price:

pros: It's a great value, some headphones are 3 times the amount, and a third of the quailty.

cons: I dont have any in my opinion!

Mic:

pros: nice sound quality on the receiving end. it clips on, rather then having an annoying mic on the side of your face even when your not using it.

cons: non for me, unless your looking for a mic tha is already on the headset.

Compatiblity:

I LOVE the fact that these work with the iPod, Zune, My Swiss Gear wired laptop bookbag, Stereo System, and the computer (its all I could find in my house to use them on.. LOL).

All in all, this product ROCKS! I love them!!!

First off, this is a wonderful headset. The sound quality is above average, at least in my opinion (haven't gone through too many headsets yet). The open air speakers are intuitive and comfortable for sustained periods of time, and the expanding bridge allows for a fairly snug fit.

Pros:

-Good ventilation. Good sound quality.

-Cable is very thick, protecting the inner wirings and thwarting that evil that is tangling.

Cons:

-Mic is clip-on rather than boom type; possibly just a personal preference.

-Cable seems rather thick for one cord. (see Pro as well)

Overall: 9/10

"Great sound, not very durable" 2009-05-30

I tried this based on the reasonable price and that it was behind-the-head in design. I was quite pleased with the sound quality and others thought the mic worked well. I was pretty happy with the purchase, until....

About 3 weeks after I started using them, my 4 year old found them and broke one of the swivel joints. No problem - I wasn't as concerned about the compact form factor when folded so I super-glued the headset back together. Now, weeks after the above incident, I have found the headset broken in between the swivel joint and the folding joint. I did notice at the beginning that their 'light weight' plastic seemed cheap, but I figured it would bend instead of break.

Thus, 3 stars.

I have had this headset for about 2 months now. I need a headset with a USB connector as my mic input does not work. Unfortunately, it does not seem to work well. I use it for in game chat in a couple of games as well as Ventrillo. In all cases, it often sends across a very loud buzzing. I have played with the settings and nothing seems to help. It happens often enough that I have stopped using the microphone out of consideration for my friends' eardrums.

I thought the folding feature would be nice, but one side broke after about 3 weeks of normal use. I taped it up and used it as a set of headphones for a while, but I am now looking for a new set. This one is getting trashed.

The price has dropped a lot since I purchased it. I bought it for almost $40. The price is much more reasonable at $18 and might be worth a try. Others might have better luck than I did.

This is one fantastic headset. The earcups are huge which means they are extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and the auto adjusting headband makes the headset very light on your head. To all the gamers out there I want to let you know that the Microphone works magnificently even unattached from the headset (mine is 5 feet away and crystal clear) but you have to use the included soundcard (my onboard soundcard made the output very low) Overall my favorite headset to date.

These headphones work great. I have had no problems with them what so ever. Sound card works well, my sound card is better though (Creative Fata1ty). For regular music they work just fine, don't expect great base and don't listen to them at high volume, the distortion is annoying. Games and movies with 5.1, are where these headphones shine. You will never go back to your surround sound, they are clear and make you feel omnipotent. You can hear everything, If you pay attention you will never have anyone stab you in the back in COD4.

The first time I purchased these was in 2005. Newegg stopped selling these so now I will buy them here. Don't believe the poor reviews. The quality is good, they last as long as any other pair of headphones.

They stay on well when running (trails mostly, 6-8 mi 6:30 pace).

I have even used them at work back when I was a MIG Welder--they they fit perfectly behind my welding helmet, and were loud enough to hear over the weld static WHILE wearing OSHA ear-plugs! They also clean up much better than most headphones, I would literally wash them off every day with lava soap and they held-up just fine.

In other words the quality is great.

When I first purchased them, I was curious about how these would feel,

but they feel much better than normal over-the-head headphones.

Their ear-pads are especialy nice, as they are super soft with a velvety soft texture.

I have had two pair of these, and I am hoping to get several more (currently looking)...each pair lasted me about 1 year. I got them for only $5 each, so at that price they are well worth it to me, but I probably wouldn't pay much more due to the fact they do break. My last pair just broke today. I use them at work almost daily, so I am not surprised they only lasted about a year each. The plastic in the back is very fragile and has many stress fractures in it, but the sound quality is excellent. The sound is crisp and clear with not too much bass. I work at an architecture firm and have gotten many compliments on the style. I would highly recommend for the sound quality, but not for reliability. If you can find them for cheap (around $5) buy like 6 and just replace them when they break. The sound quality and style make it worth it.

Logitech has done it again. They lured me in with something shiney at a low price point and I took the bait, hook line and sinker. These are the worst quality headphones I've owned since my sony walkman replacement fuzzies way back in the early 80s. The sound is small and easily distorted and they are an engineering disaster.

These headphones use a clear plastic strap to keep tension on the ears holding the speakers on your head. This is not only seriously uncomfortable but after a week of use, my headphones are completely and cleanly broken in two!

Logitech, which used to be, and still is in some unenlightened circles, the industry standard, has removed all quality from their products, and these trendy headphones are a sterling example of this. I could pursue the warranty, but at under $10 I'm just going to call it a wash and lesson learned...again.

This product does not have good protection for itself. It can break easily cause its cheap plastic on the curve. They do work nice and come with extra ear pads and that sort.

But that is it.

Overall, if you are going to use these headphones, don't bring them on trips or anywhere really. They are like headphone to use on a laptop in home.

For $10-15, these really do the trick. Sound quality is considerably better than all of the in-ear headphones I've used (spend up to $30 for those). Decently comfortable, pretty good on the go, and cheap enough that whenever they do break, I'll have felt I got my money's worth. Plus, the ugly green color really does it for me, but that's my own disreputable taste at work.

First the positives...

The sound itself, is great for gaming, with excellent deepness, especially with explosions, etc. I would not use them for music listening, but that is not what they are intended for anyway.

Now the bad...

The surround sound 'effect' is VERY poor. I had an old pair of Kinyo surround headphones that finally broke and I needed to replace. Because of them, I know that you really can get true surround effects when the headphones have REAL SEPARATE speakers for the various surround channels.

These TekNmotion headphones are really just 'stereo' with a subwoofer (2.1). They instead use software to pretend they are surround sound. Because of this, you really can't distinguish if the sound is in front or from behind. This defeats the whole purpose of why I bought surround headphones to use with First Person Shooters, which was to easily tell which direction enemies approach.

Moral of the story: For Gaming with real surround, stick with headphones that have PHYSICALLY separate drivers for front and back surround, like the Turtle Beach or the old Kinyo's I had.

The "Pulsar" headset from TekNmotion was my third headset within one year. The first two were just cheap headsets from Wal-mart. After spending about $40 on two headsets, I finally realized that you "get what you payed for."

The Pulsar headset is, by far, one of the best headsets I've ever had the pleasure of using. The vibration feature sounds "hilarious" at first, but once you get into using the headset, it's actually really cool. Playing music through the headset alone feels as if you have a high-quality sound system in your room. Gaming with this beast is an even better experience as the vibration can really put you "into" the game.

The lights are fancy, but unless you're going to a LAN party, no one will really see them, including yourself. That's not a problem, however.

The size of the headset might scream "Ouch!" to some people who might think it "clamps" to your head, but the entire top of the headset is a thick padding, along with the sides around where they headset touches your ears. Even though the headset is a tad larger than your normal headset, it feels incredibly light on your head while still having that "expensive" weighty feeling to it.

The detachable microphone is a nifty idea (even though I just keep in the headset) that could allow you to plug the mic into a normal jack if you really wanted to. Another small, but helpful feature is the marks on each side of the headset where it "extends" in length. There's 12 notches on each side noting how "far" out the headset is extended. This helps in keeping the headset sides aligned correctly and can make adjusting the headset incredibly easy.

There's also the option to use your standard jacks rather than USB (though you won't be getting vibration from the standard jacks unless you use the battery pack), which may be nice for some.

Overall, the headset works great and both the microphone and speaker quality is great. If you're looking for a good, professional-style headset for gaming or want a really nice music headset (for your computer), then this is definitely the way to go.

Quick tidbit: My first headset had the microphone die off after a few months, but I called up TekNmotion (the number is on their website), went straight to an actual human and got everything fixed up right. In fact, they sent me a new mic to test it and within a few days it had arrived. The new mic didn't fix it, so I called them up again, got my RMA# immediately, sent it back, and got a brand new headset for free. The headset itself comes with a 1-year warranty, though I'm sure it should last longer as my new headset is and has been working fine!

First of all, I would like to highly praise this product. Overall, I find it to have incredible speakers which are also very comfortable. The vibration makes the bass sound fabulous when listening to music. Despite this, I hate their mic. It has broken on me three times and is a major annoyance to have a new one shipped in. Even though it is free to have it shipped in, it is annoying that it breaks sooo easily. I don't even know what I did. I never banged it up or anything, it just stopped working. Overall, I like this product.

Works just fine with Windows Home Premium 64 bit.

I tried the USB first and they sounded awesome. The vibrations were neat (not over bearing) and made the bass sound VERY full and rich.

The lights are worthless to me because I can't see them LOL, but that's not a big deal. If you like that sort of thing, then go for it.

I then tried the standard jacks and they worked perfectly as well except no rumble but thats ok, they still sound VERY nice without the OVER THE TOP deep bass.

I didn't try the battery pack yet (and probably won't)

I plugged in the microphone and launched Ventrillo. I chose the new heaphones in the Ventrillo SetUP menu, did a test, and they work perfectly for gaming (Left4Dead, WoW) and Ventrillo.

The sound these headphones produce is great, I'll give them that, but they are made of a cheap plastic and less than a month after getting them, they are now broken. I just threw the box away a few days ago, so now I can't send it back for refund or exchange. The seller I bought it from requires the original packaging, and Saitek support is nowhere to be found.

I don't know if mine was just a bad one, but from the look of the little plastic part that broke, I think it is a design problem and could probably happen again.

These Saiteks are the typical Chinese junk. One ear piece broke off right out of the package. They're just plastic junk. Snapped off just trying to put it over my ears. Tried Superglueing it back together, not worth the shipping cost to return them. The Logitechs put these to shame. The mic is poor quality and lousy for others to have to listen to during game chat. Very sorry I wasted my money. Do yourself a favor and pick up one of the Logitech USB headsets and save yourself the trouble.

When listening to music or watching movies, these headphones shine. Getting them setup for playing games was a bit challenging, tweaking the volume controls in the game to get it just right. It's not the same as surround sound speakers, but its better playing with these on then regular 2 channel stereo ones. The downside is no EAX. With the in-line sound card via USB, you have limitations vs. having a dedicated sound card. I haven't tried the mic, so can't comment on that. Construction seems fairly sturdy but I felt I should be getting more quality for my money. Good if you want gaming or movie watching on your laptop with easy connectivity.

These headphones are a good buy. However, at first, the mic wasn't working. Saitek said it might be faulty, so I got a replacement through Amazon (within a couple of days). The second mic didn't work either, until I started changing the codecs in the "Multi Media Properties". The mic wouldn't work with the C-Media codec (the one that came with the headphones). The Sound Recording section had to be set to Soundmax (my original).

Other than the codec needing changed, (now they work beautifully), a very good product. They're a huge difference from normal stereo headphones.

Highly recommended.

Not sure about the review above me but this is one of the best headsets I've used.

The vibrating function is not a rumble function at all...it's like a sub-woofer.

Perfect balance in terms of vibration.

No buzzing here, just very clear sound..and GREAT mic.

I'm an avid gamer and use Mummble & TS constantly and it's the clearest anyone has ever heard me talk on a headset.

I highly recommend this over the painful Logitec sets.

What I thought 1 hour after taking them out of the box...

Pros: The rumble feature is kind of cool.

Cons: This headset completely trash. Yes it's easy to just plug in and play but what they dont tell you is about the constant buzzing noise, the awesome scratching noises they make every 5 mins and also the microphone is worst i used yet. While on ventrillo and teamspeak instead of hearing my voice all they hear is a VERY loud screetching noise.

I highly reccommend you dont buy these and go look at other headsets.

Bought the steelseries after looking around for a comfortable over the ear headset for gaming (mostly WoW). Great sound quality and comfort so far. I was a little disappointed with the documentation which was next to useless in setting up and figuring out what did what. I've played with enough stuff to be able to figure it out but something other than a trifolded piece of paper with almost no information would have been nice. Also would have liked a better microphone setup, this one simply clips on to something like your lapel. I found it easier to clip it to the wire at about mouth level, seems to be working well enough that way. Overall i'm happy with it, good quality and comfort which was my main interest in any case.

I spend 3-4 hours a day on the phone at minimum and this headset is the deal. First, it completely blocks out noise around you so you can hear clearly the other person. Doesn't matter if the guy next to you wants to run a chainsaw, you can't hear it. Second, it is comfortable. No ear pressure, super comfortable. Third, the sound is great..

The microphone is so-so quality, but very decent. I think the microphone doesn't capture a full range of sound quite as good as some of my other headsets, but then again I am talking on the phone and not performing arts.

The price is a little heavy, but the quality is there. Order it, use it for 30 minutes, and you won't even remember the cost...

Superior audio compared to the Sennheiser PC350.

The PC350 is more for competitive play, focusing on speech clarity and voice recognition (read: cold, harsh audio signature) while the MMX300 is the overall better headphone (read: natural, full sound).

The MMX300 mic is slightly more noisy than the PC350 mic, but not very noticeable during play.

Well, let me first start off by saying this headset was great at first. This is about 3 - 4 months in, and the microphone stopped working already. Also while talking on vent, the mic and sound would start freaking out, and making others and myself sound demonic. While it may be funny sounding to them, and everyone laughed. It was a pain in the ass to have to unplug the headphones constantly and plug them back in. Then restart the programs that wouldnt automatically adjust back. I would recommend getting a nice pair of headphones seperately, and a mic seperately.

I thought I was going to really like these headphones. The Microphone was responsive and clear when using Ventrillo. The sound from the headphones also sounded exceptional. One huge problem though, I bought this headset to use while playing World of Warcraft. The first time I used this headset while playing WoW the sound and mic worked brilliantly. Then after a couple of hours into it, the audio became all distorted and jarbled. I was in 25 man Naxxramas and this was a huge issue, I tried unplugging the headphones to get audio but unplugging the headphones, just caused no audio to play at all through my normal speakers. I had to restart the game to get the audio back. I read several posts that there was a possible bug while using ventrillo and playing WoW but Creative's latest drivers and firmware was supposed to fix the issue. Well I already had the latest drivers and firmware installed. I thought maybe it was just a fluke. The next day I played without using Ventrillo and sure enough, after a couple hours of playing, I again got distorted audio. I emailed Creative's customer support and they told me to download and install the latest version of ALchemy. Well guess what, I already had it installed. I thought that if I unistalled all the software and drivers and reinstall my problem would be solved. That didn't work either, the next day, after a couple of hours of playing, I got the distorted audio again. I tried all the tips on the WoW forums and nothing seemed to fix the problem. I decided that I would stop using the headphones after that point. So after I uninstalled all the Creative software, guess what? No sound at all when playing Wow from my computer speakers. The Creative software had somehow corrupted the sound from World of Warcraft. I was about to pull out all of my hair. I tried the Blizzard repair tool and that didn't work. After messing around with the registry and trying various other things to get the sound to work, nothing did it, the sound was broke in WoW but all the other audio would play from my computer. My only other option was to do a clean install of Windows. Sigh...that fixed the problem. Luckily for me, Amazon has a great return policy and I have already been refunded my money. I am now anxiously waiting for the Logitech G35 surround sound headset to come out.

I like these Plantronic Gamer headsets as an "On Ear" type headset. They're USB, with their own DSP controller to take the load off the motherboard sound chip. Very comfortable to wear for hours of gaming. Very good mic, to speak to others that might be online gaming with you. Very durable as well. I replaced them with a set of Sennheiser 350's just for a different style of headset (Sennheiser 350's are an "Over Ear" style...). But if you like the "on ear" style of headset these are the best out there in that style.

The sound and recording abilities of this headset are amazing. The only drawback to this is an addition the gave that actually causes problems over time. There is a volume control and mic mute part way up the cord that can be clipped on your shirt etc. Eventually on all the models I have seen people own or owned myself, with a couple exceptions has stopped working because one of the wires at this convenience switch comes loose within the sheath. I personally after the first one I bought, tie the cord in a knot around the switch thereby eliminating it from torque from above or below thereby bypassing the design flaw. Other then that, I would recommend this headset to anyone who wants to make online voice chat a great experience for both you listening and others being able to hear what it is you are saying clearly.

One of the ears in my DSP 500's lost it's sound recently, so I threw them out and looked for a new pair online, but had no such luck. Then I read that Plantronics has discontinued them, but what I didn't know was that this headset(GameComPro1) is EXACTLY the same as the 500's, with the only difference being that these are silver while the 500's are black! I was so happy to find this out! And here on Amazon is where I found it out by reading someones review. Anyways, this is really the best headset out there, and is defintley worth the price range of between 50 to 100 dollars, which is the giving price for most all online retailers for this headset.

And just a quick tip, you should DEFINTLEY use the PerSono Software that has the Equalizer settings. It really makes a HUGE difference!! Especially with my type of music (hard rock/heavy metal) using the equalizer preset for ROCK is a must!!! Makes the sound very powerful. So yes, it is compatible with this headset. Actually, it labels them as the DSP 500's when you are in the software, so that confirms it. And Plantronics does not ship the PerSono software with any of there DSP headsets anymore, so to download it, go to the following site:

I was a little worried about this headset, but after giving it a try I am very impressed. It is great for laptops and desktops alike, and the sound is very clear and flawless except for a few strange but very minor anomalies.

I just took it on a trip and used it for around 15 hours, in 5-6 hour periods, and other than my glasses digging into my ears, they were very comfortable. They worked very well with all movies I used them with.

The microphone is great, and works very well in all games and recording.

Overall, I highly recommend this product to anyone who would like an all in one solution so you don't need speakers.

Yapster TM-YW100A - nice sound quality, sensitive mic. I checked mic in Corel Video Studio Pro X2. Recording quality: loud, clear, no white noise. I liked it. Sound is great also! Good enough bass and high frequencies.

Fit exactly for my ears. Feels a little tight, but if you want to unbend it be aware that it is plastic under soft leather so be careful.

Headphones have volume control, mute button. Both work so far flawlessly.

Very nice design. Mid size. Cord 168 cm though not 2.2m as in description, but it's still long enough to not pluck off if you will stand up suddenly. The mic handle is very pliable and long enough for anybody's head. It's about 7.5'' or 19 cm from plastic part of center of connection with headphone to the end of plastic part of microphone. All-in-all, I must say this headset is superior to that Logitech one that wraps around the back of your head. It's comfortable and the microphone quality is great. However, after only thirty minutes of usage, it heats up your ears pretty badly and can even cause throbbing after two hours. Lastly, the audio quality isn't as great as the others, but you can still blast your music at 3AM and have a good time without noticing too big of a difference.

"They can't hear me, and I can't hear them" 2009-12-07

The main reason I bought the C550 was so I could hear well in conference calls, using both my ears. This headset is comfortable to wear, and it has decent sound reproduction. I'm plugging it into a ShoreTel 265 office phone via the Sennheiser CSTD-01 adapter cable for phone systems, which I purchased with the C550.

I'm disappointed because whenever I'm in a conference call, the other participants tell me my volume is low and can I please speak up. The C550 has no volume control, so rather than shouting and disturbing my office-mates, I fumble to put it down and pick up the handset of my office phone. Now I'm back where I was before I expensed $165.18 total for the headset and the required telephone adapter, including tax and standard shipping.

At least I can hear well if I wear the C550 in meetings where I'm not an active participant, yes? No. The other problem I'm having is that despite the claim of having an "XL ear cap" they are not really over-the ear headphones; they're not large enough to be. Instead, they sit on the ears, hardly blocking ambient sound at all, and when it gets noisy around me in my busy office, I try to cover my ears with my hands. The "XL" ear caps are just large enough to thwart this.

I've used telephone headsets for a couple decades. Mostly Plantronics and Radio Shack. This is the best headset I've ever owned, by far. The sound quality, both hearing and speaking, is excellent. I can hear better than I've ever heard before. And callers tell me that my voice is as clear as they have ever heard (poor folks). While the headset weighs an ounce or two more than my other headsets (it weighs 4.4 oz. with cords), it isn't too heavy and is comfortable to wear. The padding on the headband feels much better on my bald head than the bare metal of my Radio Shack model. I'm happy I spent the money for it.

The earphone speakers are so efficient, I had to turn down the volume on my phone to its lowest level. I've never had to do that before. BTW, I have a couple year old 5.8 GHz Uniden PowerMax wireless phone. I plug the headset into a 2.5 mm headset jack on the portable handset so I can walk around while I pontificate on the phone.

Please note, this headset is not usable without buying an additional cord that contains a plug. While there are several jack-cords available for different types of phones, the one I purchased was manufactured by Sennheiser. According to the label on the package, it appears the model number is CCEL190-2, with a product code of 500359. I bought it from an Amazon vendor (The Price Pros) for $15.65. It is called "Dect/gsm Cable" and works perfectly. Here is a link to the product: Dect/gsm Cable

After reading all sorts of material and alternate descriptions of the headset, I could never learn the size of the earpieces. They are exactly 2" in diameter and slightly larger than my previous Radio Shack earpieces. They are covered in soft padded leather (or pleather), as are the pads on the headband.

The total cord, including the jack-cord, is straight (uncoiled) and is 80" long (jack-cord is ~40"). This is longer than I prefer, and is my only negative on this headset. The jack-cord is connected to the headset cord via a quick release jack/socket thingy. The cable runs out of one side (mic side) of the headset rather than from both sides like my Radio Shack model.

The microphone boom is kind of short at 4.75", but that apparently hasn't hampered callers' ability to hear my voice (too bad for them).

The package includes a cable clip (clip it on your shirt to prevent the weight of the cable from pulling on the headset), storage bag, 2 replacement foam earpiece pads, and 3 color ID clips that clip onto the headband so you can tell yours apart from your co-worker's.

The quality of construction makes me believe it will last for many years. I hope so. I've enjoyed having it.

I recently purchased this headset for use at work. I am on the phone most of the day and was looking for a really high quality headset. I also work at home and have a server rack in my home office, so the ultra noise cancelling was something I was interested in. This headset definately performs. The sound quality is fantastic, as well as what the person on the other end hears.

The only thing to watch out for is that this headset comes with a Sennheiser quick disconnect plug, so in order to plug this into anything you will need another cable in addition. I got both the modular plug for Avaya phone and a 2.5mm adapter.

One of my favorite things about the headset is the comfort. It is very light and yet still feels quite durable. The adjustments work well, especially the mic boom. I have never used a headset with a boom so easily adjustable.

Overall, this headset beats any I have used for an office telephone, and is a good choice if you work in a noisy environment. I have used a plethora of Plantronics headsets, and they cannot come close to this performance.

I bought this headset months ago because my previous one broke down and stopped working. All I can say is that this headset is AMAZING and it's common knowledge among the gaming community that this is a top notch and affordable product. I really recommend getting this if you're looking for a new headset, if you don't, it's your loss. The ear muffs fit over your ear and put no strain on them whatsoever, you could wear it for an entire day and completely forgot that they're even on your head. The headset can be disassembled very easily making transportation with it hassle free. The wire is also like a shoe lace, making it extremely durable for those of us out there that accidentally run the wire over with our computer chair constantly. I needed a good headset for gaming and music, because I always woke my parents up with my music. I looked towards these, because they seemed pretty decent in price, plus I was told it's a pretty good headset. So I bought them, and when I received them I put them on, and I felt this immense pressure along the sides of my head above my ears from the headset. I didn't think TOO much of it, thinking they would maybe adjust. No more than maybe a half an hour later, I needed to take them off because they were giving me a headache! I would've loosened the headset more, but they probably would've slipped off of my head, judging by how they were were already slipping when I had put them on with minor adjustments. Not only that, but the sound quality wasn't the greatest either. The bass wasn't strong at all, and it was mostly sharp tones. I did like their idea of the pull out microphone, though. Other than that, terrible headset for me. I took them back and I bought the Sennheiser PC350s. It's a step up in price, but they seem pretty good so far.

Great fit and build quality. Be aware that these headphones are specifically designed to be short on bass, aka in an FPS game "quiet footstep" noises are more key to your survival than "rocket boom" noises.

I got the Steelseries Siberia headphones for my wife, which are better for use for mixed use, but don't have the retractable mic like these do.

Well, I had never used headphones before because I have a 7.1 speaker system (which I love). I have a small daughter now, so I can't have loud noises late at night so I decided I wanted to have a headphone option to the speaker system. I read nice reviews about these headphones (including that it had nice surround capabilities). I have had them for a while now and I must say that although the headphone seems to be of great quality, the surround is just not the same as with a speaker system...

I guess I could try one of these 5.1 headphones with 3 cables to connect to the soundcard or, maybe, no headphones will deliver the same experience as a real 7.1 system.

Anyway, the headset is real good and I recommend it for gaming but not for music listening.

I play a lot of FPS games, and these phones are the bomb! That is to say, they are great! In fact, I just ordered my second pair today since my son and I fight over them all the time. Now, we have one for each computer, and we can play our games in the same room with these monster cups on our ears and fire away! It is a great value, although I paid almost $10 less on Amazon about 6 months ago, so the price is actually going UP on these puppies....get them now, you won't be disappointed.

I bought the Razer Piranha headphones when they were first released and immediately I was impressed.

Since this seems to be the biggest issue with these... I would not suggest wearing this headset for more than 4+ hours. These do get heavy and start to feel irritable to the ears, but not without being on for several hours. Then again most headsets are going to get uncomfortable at that point. Everyone's comfort level is different when it comes to headphones, and these are by far some of the most comfortable I've worn.

These are very sturdy! The wires are actually a little long in my opinion, so I have them tied to keep them from falling onto the floor. The lighting needs to be plugged into a USB port, but in actuality it's not a big deal with some of the gaming cases out today that have plenty of ports. I carry these around quite a bit to LAN parties and the like, and I've never had any problems with them getting near breaking point, they can take a punch. Unless you're being overly rough with them you shouldn't have a problem.

Sound quality. I'm a bit of an audiophile, and I can safely say it's pretty good, though not excellent. As another reviewer stated, it's for gaming, not really intended for music listening however they don't sound bad for just music or videos either. When I have these on I can't hear much noise pollution except for the game or music I'm listening to. Unless I have one side off on purpose of course.

The microphone is pretty good as well; I find that I have to turn my outgoing up on occasion, but in all reasoning it could be because of several factors when it comes to program and computer settings. People can hear me clearly and rarely catch any noises going on in the background. It has an in-line remote control with volume and microphone muting adjustments; the muting button is not easy to move so no accidents!

I've owned a lot of headsets from Logitech to Plantronics, and I can say these are some of the nicest I've owned.

Overview: the headset sounds nice, and is good for casual play, but not good at all for professional or avid gamers. I am buying a new set of headphones after a year because I'm tired of having to take a break every ten minutes because my ears hurt from the pressure. The sound will please most people, but not those used to higher-end headphones or in-ear 'phones for music. this headset, in my eyes, has a value of about $30 so if you find it for cheap you might like it but I don't think I would buy it even then, the thing is very uncomfortable and even painful after about twenty minutes.

Sound: the sound quality is good, but not fantastic, this is definitely not a headset for avid music listeners, as the sound isn't really true to what you'd want for music, this is a headset completely made with gaming in mind. explosions, gunfire, and steel on steel sounds way better than music does with this headset. The sound goes from a moderate, comfortable volume to a really loud volume, though not quite painfully loud. this headset does not need an amp to work fine. This headset also picks up very little noise compared to other headphones, the signal isn't impeded by any noise, even on most onboard sound cards.

Microphone: the mic is good, but not fantastic, again it's made with gaming in mind, the mic itself is very quiet even though the sound coming from the pads is quite loud, it's on an adjustable, semi-bendable boom coming from the left side, and has no filtering foam on it. if a software microphone amplifier is used on a recording of the mic it can and probably will sound sibilant (where everything with a "t" or "s" sound is prominent). The mic is not for the very quiet, several times I've had to raise my voice to a louder level just to be heard through the mic by other players. Having the USB cord plugged in at the same time as the mic cord seems to help a little, but not much.

Build Quality: the headset is sturdy and will last awhile (mine has lasted for over a year with no problems whatsoever, and I am not gentle with it) the ends of the cord are separated about four feet from the minijack and usb plugs, those cords are all sturdy and won't give out. I braided the separate cords except for the last five inches or so both to protect the cords and to keep the ends from tangling, it works very well. after the seperation the cord is covered by some form of nylon shoe-string-esque covering, it's tough and will not tear, this goes all the way up to the left ear-cup where it is attatched to the headset. about two feet from the headset there is a volume dial/mic switch. the low end of the volume dial is the on side for the mic switch. be careful when using the headset because both the volume dial and the mic switch like to flip easily.

Comfort: this headset is comfortable for about 15 minutes, then the pressure starts to hurt one's ears, the headset in a relaxed position has about two inches or so between ear pads (at the smallest size setting) the headset is made to pull apart, sure, but the pressure crushes the ear against one's head, meaning if you have glasses, like myself the back of your ears will hurt unless you adjust your glasses. after about thirty minutes of use, the headset's ear pads will have crushed your ears quite well, and any movement of the headset will be painful. when the headset is taken off I do not recommend putting in-ear headphones on, your outer and mid-ear will thank you for not.

The Razer Piranha Stereo gamiing headphones is the most disappointing purchase I've made through Amazon. It comes with a USB connector and two 3.5 mm connectors for the headphone and microphone. I've tried using it with my Macbook Pro and Ipod. The microphone does NOT work using either the mini-jack or the USB connector. The audio input ONLY works using the mini-jack. So you're paying $57+ for headphones that cannot be used either for gaming or VoIP. The "durable braided fiber cable" forks into flimsy wires that connect to your computer or mp3 player. The wires in the headset I received may have broken at the factory. The unit was obviously not tested before being packaged and shipped. The headset, itself, is not nearly as comfortable as some of the reviewers lead you to believe. I can't imagine wearing this for more than an hour at a time. The best feature are the ear pods that glow blue when connected. Can I get my money back?

For an analog headset, they are very comfortable and the sound quality is great, both directions. What impresses me is the mic: it picks up my voice very well (with the mic boost in the + position) but doesn't pic up background noise. Also, my gripe with many headsets is they are tight to my head, which after a while causes a headache. These are loose, and since they are over the ears that's fine (ie, they won't fall off).

First off, I'd like to say that I paid $15 for these a good 6 months ago, shipping included, so my opinions are based on these headphones costing that much. Ok so I was not expecting much out of $15 "professional" gaming headphones, but even so they are suprisingly good.

They are very, very large and very comfortable, even for prolonged use. The earcups rotate enough about 2 axes to provide a good fit. without the need for adjustment. The vinyl earcups are soft, but do not deform with use.

Build quality is solid, albeit plastic. I think these would crack if you dropped them on concrete, but otherwise the plastic is thick and hard. The cord is also very long and thick. It coils nicely and does not tangle easily. Jack is gold-plated and the strain relief molding is good. If i had to pick one thing that is likely to fail, its the thin vinyl on the headband. I can totally see it getting worn out and losing all the padding, though it hasnt happened in 6 months of casual use.

The sound quality is also suprisingly good on these (again, for $15). They sound much better than anything else i've tried for this price except the Koss KSC-75's. They have *some* soundstage and instrument separation, and the bass is not as excessive or muddy as other budget cans. On the contrary, it is quite oontrolled and subdued. When used without an amplifier, one could call it "missing". As expected, they are also pretty flat-sounding, especially at the high-mid and high end. They work fine for movies (unless you prefer a cinematic experience) and games. In games (fallout 3, gta 4, mirror's edge) the sound is clean and separated. Sound placement is quite good as long as you dont use Dolby virtual 3D sound.

The bottom line: If you just need decent, cheap headphones to play some games and movies in comfort and (relative) isolation, these are the right phones for you. If you desire audio quality and portability, look elsewhere.

I will admit that despite being rather large, the headphones are somewhat comfortable and cover the ears well. You can move your head around without they falling off or getting out of position.

From a sound quality perspective, they are OK. They don't necessarily block out all external sounds despite their enormous size. I have no complaints with the quality when listening to something, although if what you are listening to goes off temporarily, you will get a mild annoying buzzing noise in your ear.

Product wise I'm really disappointed in the materials. The material covering the top part began peeling off almost immediately and will end up with little bits making a mess. The cord seems longer and more sturdy than most headphones on the market which is one nice thing.

Overall it's decent, but overpriced. There are better options at this price point right now. For the current price, I expect a little more quality with the materials going into the headphones.

Review from Hubby. Sound quality (for what I paid) is superb. I managed to get these things for under $20.

Pros -

1) Sound quality is good. 4 out of 5 stars. Read others reviews to see their takes. Although I found these acceptable stock.

2) Large ear muffs cover most ears (exactly what I wanted/needed). I work in a Data Center around large XEROX printers (like you see at Kinkos) and they can get loud. These things let me watch HULU while at work. Reduces all but the loudest of sounds down to barely noticeable background levels (I havent tested with a talking wife in the room).

3) Labeled as gaming headphones but they have @ a 12' cable. Who walks 12' from their PC? --- Console/TV usage diff story see con below ...

Cons -

1) The faux leather that covers the cushioning on the head band started falling apart after a month. Could be my fault. Headphones get left in my car at night sometimes since I use them at work quite a bit. It does get cold in my garage. TBH though I prefer the cotton padding that was hidden underneath.

2) Just a con due to my usage ... the cable is only @ 12'. They are labeled as gaming headphones. Individuals with disposable income may have a room/tv set up too large. My living room with my console/tv is 18'. Easily fixed. Radio Shack carries a 20' headphone extension cable for @ $15. BestBuys longest is 6'

I would give it 4.5 stars but for 2 things. A - not possible on Amazon. B - the headband kind of irks me even though I like the cotton padding better than the faux leather.

Amazon needs a better (more in depth) ranking system.

Value : 5/5 - Again I got these for @ $20

Construction : 4/5 - stupid headband or I would say 4.5

Comfort : 5/5 as someone else said you can wear these things for HOURS.

I've been using this for about 3 weeks now and I'm satisfied so far. I always wanted a good pair of over-the-ear headphones. I like these everglides. They are comfortable to wear (although bulky) and they sound good. Following are the pros and cons IMO.

Pros:

- Good sound quality. The sound they reproduce is very real (un-headphone like, if you will). It doesn't sound unnatural even at higher volumes.

- The really long (3 meter) cable is good. It will be helpful during my late-night/early-morning video game sessions.

- The oversized cushion covers my entire pinna, which makes it very comfortable. The cushion material itself is very soft. If you have used over-the-ear headphones before, you know how important this factor can be.

- The oversized cushion also creates some level of background noise isolation.

- Although these headphones are heavy, they are surprisingly comfortable to wear. I got used to the weight very quickly and I wear them for 2-3 hour sessions without any discomfort.

Cons:

- These are really bulky, makes you look like a pilot of sorts. Although I agree that their bulky-ness makes them so comfortable and reproduces good sound - forget about carrying them on vacations and stuff. These will require a separate carry-on of their own.

I recommend them for thirty bucks.

It squeezes your head and there is no comfortable way to wear it. Next complaint is the cable which hard to manage (also no volume control). After using this headset for a week, I went back to my Steelsound 5H v2.

Simply the greatest sounding, most comfortable headset I have ever owned. I have had these for over a year now and use them for both work at home conferences and gaming. EASILY installed and moved between my laptop and PC as both USB or standard jack headphones. The mic is great and the way it retracts into the ear piece is genius when I just want to listen to music. For gaming, I simply have not heard better, crisper sound. I am continually amazed at just how good they sound. They also are light on the ears (over the ears) and you can still hear around you in the room so you hear the phone, your wife, whatever... Great, GREAT product. Let me start by saying that I'm no audiophile. I don't care if my home stereo or home theater can deliver music in 5.1 ultra surround or whatever and I've been content with my "el cheapo" headset for gaming and general computer use.

But when it finally broke, I followed a friend recommendation and bought the Steelseries 5H USB and it feels like a veil had been lifted from my face (or ears in this case). I had no idea games could sound so beautiful. I can hear each of the little bells that sound in the background when casting a healing spell or hear with almost pinpoint accuracy where is that zombie approaching from.

The microphone works great and the fact that is retractile is nice. The headset itself is comfy and big enough to cover my freakishly large ears completely without giving me a headache after a few hours of usage.

I'll be the first to admin that it is not inexpensive (you can get a Logitech for about a fourth of the price). But if you can afford it, and your primary use is games, you can't go wrong with a SteelSeries.

Excellent value for Ipod, home audio and gaming. I purchased a set for private listening on my computer. It wasn't more than a week when my son started bugging me for a pair for his ipod. A day or 2 later he plunked down cash and asked me to order them:)! A month later his friends started ordering them. In one case to replace a pair of perfectly good $125 AKGs which were described as too bulky. (not sure of the model)

My only caution is to stay away from AntOnline which is one of the Amazon merchants. If you have a problem they will charge you for return postage regardless of who is at fault.

I am an avid flight simmer and these are a great set of "David Clark" like headphones. They are very comfortable once you get them properly adjusted I have worn them for 5+ hours at a time. They do make a pretty tight seal to your head and around your ears so I can see what the one guys was saying about wearing glasses and having issues. The volume adjustment on the side is a big plus!!

I thought I would add to this review after owning them a year. The only real issue I have encountered is that the ear cushions could be better. Either they have become harder or my ears more sensitive because after long periods of use they start to hurt. I think they really wanted them to be just like the real thing becasue they make such a good seal around your ear they block out external noise especially in the high end. I can never hear my wife at all with these on!!

The Saitek PH09 Pro Flight Headset is about as close to the real thing as you will find! It has a quality build and if placed next to a real flight headset of the same design, you would be hard pressed to tell them apart. Audio wise it is excellent & the fact that you can "hear" your own voice feedback through the earphones as you speak is a real plus. (Many headsets do not do this very well.) Another great feature is a handy volume control on the left earpod. What can I say? I enjoyed this product so much I bought a set for a very good but particular flight sim buddy of mine. Don't hesitiate to buy this item if you want the look and feel of a real flight headset.

I've not tried these with MS flight sim. But, with several combat sims I have, this product has HORRIBLE sound.

Negatives:

These are way too tight. I wear glasses and within 15 minutes, I can feel parts of the skin near my ears getting numb.

I'm well over 40. So, my hearing ain't what it used to be. TOO MUCH BASE! It hurts my ears and I can't distinguish sounds with lower base (higher pitch sounds). It's too difficult to discern other sounds that aren't loud...then, when loud, hurts your ears.

Mic boom is difficult to adjust properly at higher angles for smaller heads. It's range of movement is fine at lower angles, but as you raise it, you're afraid to bend or break it.

Postives:

The volume control is nice. It's very responsive and provides plenty of volume when you need it.

The mic is very sensitive. I had to reduce the mic input when using mic boost inside windows as it was picking up sounds from across the house (and that was through a closed door!)

Nice mute button feature on the front of the mic. If you use voice on all the time, this is nice because you can mut it at the touch of the front of the mic.

Over all, due to the lack of comfort and the inability to distinguish between sounds, I can't rate this more than a 2. I wish I could rate it a 1.5 because that's how bad I don't like it. At the price I bought it for ($99) it was a waste of money for me.

After having worn these for a while now, I can safely say if you're even considering these you should go for it. I was consider the Carcharias from Razer but I chose these because of the fact that I can use these for my ipod or zune or whatever you have. I had a little trouble with the mic, but I just had to adjust some settings on my pc to accomidate the new bit of hardware. Overall a great choice. I highly, highly recommend it! ^_^

This is an absolutely amazing headset for the price

Sound quality is superb for both bass and higher notes

The removed mic is fairly good. You can just place it in your general area and it'll pick your voice up just fine

Cord is nice and thick, unlike other headsets with really thin cords that look like they'll snap if you pull on them even a little bit. Cord is also very long, which is a definite plus.

Build quality is pretty good. Haven't had any problems yet. Sturdy piece of hardware

The headset was initially a little bit uncomfortable to wear over 2-3 hours of gaming but I got used to it after a month or so.

Also, at first I thought that the whole thing would look kind of dumb being so big and all, but really you just end up looking like you're gonna bust out some DJ action at a moments notice. Not bad at all. Shouldn't be a problem even if styling is a concern for you

Overall, an incredible product that I have no regrets purchasing

This is a comfortable headset, and nice when it works. However from day one I have had issues with crackling sounds speakers cutting in and out due to broken cables. I was not provided with any warranty information or receipt. So despite fast delivery I am left with a headset that doesn't work up to standard considering the price.

I have been using Triton usb surround sound headphones for gaming for the past 4 years. Decided to take a chance on the Megaladons, and it was worth every penny and the chance. These are by far superior to the Tritons, and the Triton AXPC "ain't too shabby...". I would highly recommend these headphones to all gamers. I don't use them for listening to music, so can't offer much of an opion there. The cloth covered earpieces are both more comfortable and do not cause the "ear sweating" of the faux leather headphones I have used in the past. I am a hardcore, avid gamer and have worn these for upwards of 4 hours in a session, and they remained comfortable throughout. A big A PLUS to Razer for these. The case is awesome for those who want to take them to lan parties, etc. The shipping time and price from Amazon was right on par with all the items I have purchase through Amazon, 10 out of 10. In short, buy the Megaladon, you won't be disappointed!

The product looks nice - but it does not work on many configuration: the sound just stops coming from the speakers after about 20 mins of game play - razer had a firmware fix which doesn't fix anything - they made me jump through hoops, lots of slow back and forth emails, sending screenshots and configs etc... to finally come back to day with

Microphone quality is also horrible on windows 7 (and volume/sensitivity setting of it basically doesn't work either)

First off this thing is amazing. Just the packaging it comes in is coo. As soon as I opened it I had my laptop on plugged it in and put it on. It worked without having to configure anything. So easy to use, the best sound quality ever, insane comfort, everything about this headset is almost to good to be true. Although my favorite thing about it is the braided wire. The wire does not get all messed up like a tradition wire and you dont get that anoying problem where you have to be constantly finding that sweet spot in the wire to make the sound work (some people should know what i am talking about). This is definently worth it.

Was using windows 7 and works like a charm.

Had this headset for about 2 weeks. I really loved the sound quality and the comfort of the headset. The mic was reported to me as sounding pretty good when I configured it correctly for Vent.

However, the sound continually cut out with the headset. The device was actually getting completely cut off. The only fix as to unplug and replug in the headset or switch default output devices in the playback devices list. Further research into the issue revealed that it was a problem with the built in driver used by Windows 64-bit. There is no work around or fix. Posts on the Razer site indicated that they were "Working with Microsoft to resolve the issue."

If you aren't using Win 64-bit I think you will love these cans but if you are, I would find another option.

For one it's from Razer, probably the best accessory computer equipment company out there. Amazing quality or sound, bass, vocals, basically everything in a song, FPS fight, or anything, you can hear it crystal clear. Very comfortable, the cloth wrapping on the cords is a very nice feature for non-tanglage. The ears, for me, fit perfectly around my ears and very comefortable.

I don't know about you!) very clear sound that one of my half-loss hearing ear suffers from the (labyrinthitis disease) can hear so clearly..however after while you'll feel like "itching" in the surrounding area of the ear and a little bit of the head (which is annoying!) it's because of the material used in the headset are more like a "Fur" than a an ordinary "fabric" which means it's not 100% as advertised in the pictuers! overall it's a good buy!

I purchased this headset after owning several different "gaming type" headsets. The main problem I had with all previous headsets was comfort. I have a fairly large head and found most headsets uncomfortable after a short period .

The first Razer Carcharias I purchased came out of the box with an non-functioning microphone. I returned it and obtained another and it has performed perfectly ever since. I gave this headset a second chance because it is simply the most comfortable headset I have ever owned! Sound quality is excellent but not mind blowing. The nylon wrapped cord is sturdy and has a quality feel to it, as does the entire headset. I highly recommend this product, although it loses a star in this review due to the first one purchased being broken out of the box.

Pros: They are very comfortable and use the same great ear padding material found on the other razer headsets. The chord is braided, so it won't wear or tangle like cheap headphone chords do. The mic is good quality and I was told I sound clearer over voice chat compared to previously using my built in laptop mic. The sound quality is average/good but definitely not great. I like the way they look when I'm not wearing them. Nice in line mic mute with alligator clip. The 3.5mm jacks are gold plated which is always an indicator of good build quality (as you would expect from razer).

Cons: They are stereo headphones not surround sound. This means they have only two speakers (R and L) and are not very effective for positional audio or in game sound effects. If you play fps surround sound is critical, telling where footsteps and gun shots are coming from which you simply can't do as well with stereo sound. "Stereo gaming headset" is kind of an oxymoron at this day in age of 5.1 and 7.1 headsets being standard. The mic is not detachable, it only flips up. This means you will look kind of silly with them on if anyone sees you wearing them regularly. Although they are over ear design a lot of sound escapes and they do not block out outside sound very well at all. This is yet another con for gaming because if you are playing in a noisy room you will not be able to hear critical in game sounds like footsteps and grenade pins. Also in quiet environments you may disturb people around you. The chord is a little too long which usually wouldn't be a con, but it can often get tangled or wrapped around/rolled over by the computer chair. I have mine zip tied to other cables for cable management on my desk so this isn't a problem for me. The inline volume control has a scroll wheel for volume which can sometimes rub against my leg or shirt (when clipped to pants pocket) and become excessively loud or quiet. No blue leds! However, this does keep the connection simple with no separate usb connection for power necessary. If you are in the market for a stereo headset solution for music, voicechat and simple games and if excellent sound quality or precision positional audio in games isn't important for you then these should do fine. I have owned both these and the barracudas. If you'd like to know the difference just comment on my review and I'd be glad to answer.

EDIT: It has been about 1-2 months since purchase and the mic on these has stopped working unexpectedly. I've tested them on several different pcs and am positive it is a problem with the headset itself not any sound card or software conflicts. I will be sending these back under warranty and edit my review with the results.

I give the comfort 5/5! the sound quality a 4/5. the construction a 4/5(feels a bit flimsy in some spots.)

Great fiber braided cable, long enough for anything. Comes with a volume adjust/mic on-off thing for quick adjustments. Mic quality is great, everyone hears me :) Most comfortable headphones ive used. soft and quality materials around your ears.

"Good sound quality ... for digital audio only" 2009-12-25

I have an on-board 8 channel sound card on my PC ... on M3A78-T board ... which is quite decent. However, when I use the cables to connect to my sound card, I don't get much volume at all. I need to crank it up to max, but then I get so much hiss that I can't hear the audio. So I had to switch to digital audio. This involves using a lot more cables ... but at least I get good sound quality now, and volume.

Now I'm not sure how much the digital sound differs from the analogue sound, but digital sounds pretty good to me. I have to say, though that they sound different than my previous sennheiser HD-202 (which I loved) ... the HD-202 seemed to have more bass.

Also, I'm not sure if the hiss I had is because of the build in sound card or something else ...

So I'm not sure spending this much money on AXPRO is for everyone.

The tritto axpro's are a great set of head phones for any gamer. The price is well worth the product you receive the sound audio is great playing games like call of duty you can hear somebody behind you from a good distance away Lao when they reload from across the map. The down fall to these are the wires there are a lot of them and they are a little on the short side 10 to 12 feet at best so of u sit away from your tv not roughy in front of it might not be best fit for u all though not as good as the astro a40' s they are right up there once u figure out how to adjust the sound to your liking

Headset experience:

I have owned a Turtle Beach X3, Turtle Beach X31, Currently own Turtle Beach X41 after returning this product the Tritton AX PRO. I originally owned a X3 for over a year and had to replace the voice chat cable a few times. I then saw the new version the X31 and exchanged my X3 for that instead of replacing the cable again. it turned out to be faulty when purchased, but i thought that was how all the X31 where and decided to try something new. After trying out this headset for a few hours after i revived it, i returned it and purchased a X41 instead of going back to the X31. I will never buy Tritton again and currently love my X41.

Summary:

Sure 8 speakers sounds amazing until you actually hear the 8 speakers. Now if you have never owned a Turtle Beach or any other gaming headset you probably wont know how bad the actual sound is. If you have owned a gaming headset even a Turtle Beach X1 you will realize how much of a joke this thing is. I recommend skipping this and going for any Turtle Beach even the X1, which in my opinion has much better sound quality, not to mention the X41 (X31 is a wireless X1). Bottom line skip this one.

The BAD:

Sound Quality:

Now let me explain before you get all upset saying "how can 8 speakers sound bad?". The thing is there is no Sound Depth, meaning no matter how far away a sound is in a game like Modern Warfare 2 or any game for that matter it sounds the same. That's right if someone is running 3 feet from you or 50 feet the sound level for the footsteps is the same. That goes for every noise, gun fire, explosions, people talking, and everything else.

Sound Immersion:

Now thats not the worst part though, the worst is that sound that you cant tell how far away it is will only play on one of the 6 speakers (not including subwoofers). So now that sound that you cant tell how far away is only playing in one speaker, making it impossible to play competitively or recreational. You might wonder how that makes it harder to hear. Think of it like this if someone is on the left of you talking to you, do you not hear them in your right ear as well as the left, but just not as loud in the right? Same principle here it makes the sounds feel unreal instead of immersive like you want it to sound. Even a Turtle Beach x1 has better sound depth and quality.

Microphone:

Another problem I ran into was the microphone. People cant hear you when you speak on Xbox Live because the Microphone doesn't pick up most of your words if your not talking loudly and even when you are you sound muffled and quiet to your friends.

The GOOD:

Not much:

There are a few good parts though, It is very comfortable and comes with replacement faux leather pads if you dont like the kind already on it. The setup isnt overly difficult, and does offer true surround sound.

OVERALL:

i truly dislike this headset, I honestly think its an over hyped piece of junk. Please if your reading this dont buy this, its not that good. The sound quality for a X1 or X31 is much better then this headset. After my experience with this headset i will stick with Turtle Beach for life.

I bought this for my son and he abosolutely loved it at first until the Mic. went out. Called the company and they knew that there was a problem with the mic. and said they will send out a repacement. Except, it has been 6 weeks and they tell me that they are back ordered meaning everyone has the same problem I guess. We bought a second one with the new supposedly improved mic. and the new one just failed as well.

I would not recommend spending $180.00 to buy somethiing with such horrible quality. We did not abuse it in anyway, the product is just not reliable. Hope this helps some of you who are reading this to make an informed decision.

I bought these to replace the Turtle Beach pair I had. Nothing wrong with the TB's, just wanted TRUE 5.1 where TB's is simulated.

The surround is awesome! Not as much better from the TB's as I thought they would be, but still excellent.

Setup was super simple and not as hard as some have said. There is only ONE wire that needs to be visible and that's the one going to the headset. Everything can be hidden away. There are NOT two power blocks for this unit. It has ONE power block with two wires coming out of it, so it only takes up one outlet.

I've been using this headset mainly for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and my game has improved somewhat from being able to hear where the enemy is. I recently found that by turning the sub volume down, I can hear footsteps around me even better.

I only have one major complaint about this unit, and that's the microphone. Quite simply, it stinks. The sound quality that other people hear is HORRID. It's a tinny sound and sounds distant even when the mic is right at my mouth. People have told it's hard to hear and even harder to understand me. I'm guessing that this is because it's connected via a 3.5mm plug instead of being hardwired. It's nice to be able to remove it, but not at the expense of sound quality. I've resorted to using my PS Eye as my mic, which is cumbersome itself, since there's no mute function while using that. This cheap sounding, tinny mic is the only reason I didn't give this unit 5 stars.
